What is a Corporate Magician?

When you hire a professional and experienced magician to perform at your corporate event, you can expect your guests to talk about this night for weeks to come. A magician can be the perfect cherry on top to highlight the night and make it memorable for your guests.

What exactly does a corporate magician do? Is a corporate magician different from any other kind of magician?

Experienced magicians are adept at customizing their performances or routines to meet a number of venues. The same applies to a magician for corporate events. A magic show can be customized to meet the needs of a specific venue, whether it be an annual awards banquet, a training seminar, or a new product launch.

When you hire a magician for your corporate event, you’re treating your guests to a unique experience that they have likely never seen before. Plus, it sends a message that you want them to relax and have fun.  Often times, corporate events can be a bit stuffy unless someone is there to break the tension and let the guests know it’s ok to have a good time.

What does a corporate magician do?

What exactly does a corporate magician do? This depends on the type of event you are planning and the size of the crowd.  If the event is large enough, the magician can stroll through the crowd performing magic close up for the guests.  Another option for a large crowd is a stage show.  This, of course, requires the venue to have a stage, and it works well for awards banquets and conferences.  If you have a smaller crowd for a company retreat, a close up show could be a perfect fit.  An experienced magician is often able to adapt his skills to suit the environment.

A walk around or strolling magician at a corporate event serves as an icebreaker, gets attendees interacting with one another, and encourages them to have fun. Imagine hearing gasps of amazement and belts of laughter from across the room as word gets out about the incredible entertainment at this year’s event. Magic is a wonderful way to connect people.  Groups will form, and everyone will have a shared experience that they will talk about long after the event is over.

If you’re not sure what type of magic is best for your event, talk to several magicians directly.  Get their advice, and go with the option that makes the most sense to you.  The more information you can give the magician about the event, the better he/she will be able to advise you.  Give the magician a general idea of the size of the crowd, the age range, and the schedule for the event.

The type of magic you choose should largely depend on the schedule of the event.  During free-flow parts of the event such as the reception or during down time or breaks in the event, strolling magic magic is almost always a great choice.  Stage magic is great to give a banquet a “grand finale” feeling at the end of the night or to add some texture in between speakers at a conference.

One great thing about hiring an experienced magician for your corporate event is that he or she will be able to give you advice on the schedule of the event, or if you need an event planner, we know the perfect one. 🙂  Often times, a magician can see a mistake a mile away and will be able to advise you from experience working events like yours in the past.

What can you expect with a corporate magician at your event? A fun, interactive break in the typical routine of a corporate event. You are giving your guests something they do not expect and something that they will appreciate.  How often do they get to see mind blowing feats of magic performed right before their eyes?

As a final note, you should feel comfortable speaking with the magician you hire on the phone. The way the magician speaks with you on the phone is a reflection of the way he or she will interact with your guests.  If he/she is confident and personable, this is a good sign.  A good corporate magician can take over an event and have your guests raving for weeks to come!
