Corporate Event Magic Recap!: Plan It! Events in Dallas, TX

I was hired for this event by Plan It! Events in Dallas, TX.  The event was for a company that specializes in loans for small businesses.  There were around 80 guests total, and I was hired for 3 hours of Strolling/Mingling Magic

The event was being held on a luxury party boat on Lake Grapevine.  The boat was set to leave the dock at 5:30PM, and guests began arriving at 5PM.  There was an upper and lower deck on the boat, and as everyone arrived, they quickly dispersed between both decks.  Guests on the lower deck began eating first, since the food was located there.  This meant I began performing on the upper deck first, where guests were just waiting and socializing.  One guest filmed me squeezing two borrowed $1 bills into a single $2 bill and handing it out as a souvenir!

This was a beautiful moment to mark my transition down to the lower deck.

Eventually, it was time for guests on the upper deck to eat, and I made my way down to the tables on the lower deck that had already begun to finish their dinner.  As I made my way down the stairs, I caught a view of the beautiful sunset over Lake Grapevine.  This was a beautiful moment to mark my transition down to the lower deck.

Having just finished dinner, guests were socializing and ready to be entertained!  Here, you’ll see I was filmed by another guests performing the Prediction Card.

When performing Strolling Magic during a dinner event, it is important to perform for guests who are NOT actively eating.  There are always tables that will be served first and that will finish first… and vice versa.  This means there will almost always be guests to perform for during dinner.  It’s all about timing!

As the event progressed, I worked between both the upper and lower decks, making sure I performed for guests who had not seen me yet.  With a 3 hour time span, I had plenty of time to get around to everyone and perform sets that were a bit longer.  After the sun went down, one guest took a video of me performing the X On Hand effect on the upper deck.

As the evening came to a close, I began to return to groups for a second time to perform different material.  Often, groups would call me over to perform for one or two guests who had missed me before.  It’s always nice when the guests hype up the performance before it even starts!

At a certain point, the DJ on the upper deck played an interactive game with the guests.  There were a couple groups that were hanging out on the lower deck still, so I took this time to perform some more magic for them to close out the evening.  Soon enough, we were back at the dock, and guests were filing off the boat and back onto their buses.

Party boat, showboat, and cruise events are always interesting because guests are stuck on the boat for hours, without being able to leave.  This means they need interactive entertainment to keep them engaged, in addition to the food and music.  For this event, they had myself to perform magic and the interactive game from the DJ, and that was plenty to keep the night fun and interesting! If you are interested in hiring a Dallas magician for your upcoming event, don’t hesitate to reach out here!
